Naturopathic students meet strict admission requirements, among
those being completing a bachelors degree.
POST
GRADUATE EDUCATION IN A NATUROPATHIC MEDICAL COLLEGE

FIRST
YEAR
The first 2 years are similar to other medical students in
that it is composed of basic sciences
in the study of normal structure and function of the body.
Anatomy, Physiology, and Biochemistry courses introduce methods
of physical examination, laboratory evaluation and diagnosis.

SECOND
YEAR
Continues in the basic sciences focusing
on the body's pathological transitions through disease, along
with clinical recognition of these processes using physical,
clinical and lab diagnostics.

THIRD
AND FOURTH YEARS
The third year focuses on clinical
methods of preventative medicine, pediatrics, geriatrics,
gynecology, obstetrics, physical medicine, neurology, endocrinology,
cardiology, pulmonology, urology, dermatology and immunology.
Students begin their clinical training along with therapeutic
education are integrated throughout the final academic years.
Students become proficient in all modalities of naturopathic
medicine including homeopathy,
physical manipulation, hydrotherapy, botanical
medicine, nutrition,
mind/body counseling, acupuncture,
oriental medicine and minor surgery. Students learn to combine
all these modalities for each individual patient in their
final year. An eclectic approach to each individual patient
is a cornerstone of Naturopathic Medicine.
NATUROPATHIC
MEDICAL COLLEGES

The
only fully accredited approved naturopathic medical colleges
are Bastyr University, Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine,
National College of Naturopathic Medicine, Southwest
College of Naturopathic Medicine, and University of Bridgeport.
